BMW E53 Airbag Light and Seatbelt light will not turn off plus other electrical gremlins. *SOLVED*
This video shows how to diagnose if your ignition switch is bad (you do this by sliding the passenger vanity mirror open and closed and see if that affects you dash lights). If the switch is bad you will have intermittent problems such as the seatbelt warning light staying on regardless of the seatbelts being secured. Also airbag light stays on. Cruise control may not work. Rear wiper does not work or works sporadically. Radio keeps changing sources. Steering wheel buttons do not work.
I fixed all these problems by replacing the ignition switch with the cheapest one I could find on Amazon. It’s been 2 weeks and so far the issues have not returned.

The 4 lights were lit up on my 2005 BMW E53 X5 dash (tire, 4x4, brake, and abs). Lots of videos show the fix to be replacing a plastic gear on a transfer case actuator. My gear was fine but I finally tracked down a broken wire that monitors the front left wheel speed sensor. FYI: I did some resistance and voltage checks on a good sensor and wire and here are the results... Resistance of the spe...

    I had the opposite problem. The pump built up too much pressure and would stall engine. Backed off unloader spring tension correctly but no change in pressure after pressure release by trigger then restart engine. Even swapped out suspect unloader assembly with known good unloader still too much pressure at wand very hard to pull trigger and engine stalls. Must be that ball bearing stuck in high pressure position ? Sediment or corrosion?

      That usually means your pressure setting nut (17 mm) is cranked down to tight and engine doesn’t have enough horsepower to make that kind of pressure so the engine dies. Or one of the ports that allow pressure control is plugged up b

    • @AK907dude
      @AK907dude 2 місяці тому

      I suppose it’s possible that the ball is stuck in some scale, but not very likely. The only way to know for sure is to take apart the unloader valve as shown in the video and look in past that cage and see if the ball is free. If it’s not, soak it in some vinegar to dissolve the scale.

      Water typically flows through the pump freely. Something is obviously plugged up. I don’t know what it could be. If it was me I would remove various threaded plugs and blow compressed air through them.

    This design is flawed from the beginning. They’re only good for 300 hours or so for the DIY. Can’t someone design a more efficient pump using the Tesla type motors, instead of gasoline, and utilize precision engineering of a water pump, as opposed to the cheap products from China.
